I'm working on a Word report based on an existing template and I need to get an image in, with a small table immediately following the image (no newline). I'm currently using an append image, then a format picture to scale down the image. Then append table. I tried appending some text to see what would happen, and the text doesn't go to a new line (which is what I'm trying to get done with the table). Any methods I can try?

This is an expected behavior when you insert a table in Word, even using the Word menus when you try to insert a table after an image it will be inserted on a new line.
The workaround is to create an empty 1X2 table and then to insert the picture in the first column and the table in the second column. This is not trivial you will have to use ActiveX properties and methods to do that. If you're using a template you can try adding the 1X2 empty table to your template and add bookmarks in each table element. The use the bookmarks to place the image and the small table.
