Why do LabVIEW crash opening a file dialog box?

Hi guys,

I´m not working that far with LabVIEW and I now have to face a problem I cannot solve alone, so I want to ask you for help. I created a VI that uses the File Dialog Express VI. It´s not the first time I´m using this, but the first time LabVIEW crashes after it opened the file dialog box. At the latest when I´m trying to select a file or folder LabVIEW does not react to any of my actions anymore. Have anybody of you ever had the same bug???

Hopefully you can help me.

Thanks in advance

Andre

I've never had the slightest problem with any file handling in LabVIEW.  Since the file dialog is interfacing with your operating system you probably have some incompatibility issue.  What OS are you using?  What LabVIEW verison?

I agree with you. I use Windows 7 Pro and LabVIEW 2013. I just recognized, that the same problem also occurs, when I try to put a VI into the block diagramm via the functions palette and "Choose VI" and the file dialog box appears... 😞

Have you tried rebooting the computer?

More then one time! But after a reboot the bug still occurs.

Check the HD for errors, run the system file checker, scan the computer for malware, check the setting of security software, etc.

Do you know if any other software got installed right before it stopped working? There are some intrusive other programs that could interfere.

Did you check your HD like altenbach suggested?

I also think it could be a Problem on your HD or maybe some other software that corrupted your LabVIEW files
