Why am I getting this error message?????

Here is the error message word for word...

" Measurement & Automation Explorer or the Instrument I/O assistant is not installed correctly.  Please install these from the LabViEW Driver CD"

Here is what I have done so far I have repaired my Measurement and Automation Explorer, repaired NI-488.2 2.4, repaired NI-VISA 4.3.  Also I have noticed everytime I disconnect and reconnect my GPIB-USB-HS my computer acts like it has never seen it before and treats it as a new device...is this a related problem to what I am seeing above.  My current software versions are LabVIEW 7.1, Automation Explorer 4.4, NI-VISA 4.3, and NI-488.2 2.40.  What is the problem here I need this to interface a Aeroflex unit.

Also what installs the Instrument I/O assistant functionality is it the NI-488 drivers?  I really need to figure this out.

Chris

Hi Chris,

when do you get this error message? If you start the MAX? Did you try to reinstall all. Start with LabView. Install the driver for your GPIB device before connecting it.

Hope it helps.

Mike

I get this message as I drag the I/O assistant onto the block diagram.  It tries to initiate itself with the status bar the status bar goes all the way and then I recieve the message.  Also I'll right click the I/O assistant to access the properties and I  get this message right away.  I did install all the drivers first in fact I upgraded my 488.2 to V 2.5 last night after my post.  I really need to figure this out!!!

Hi Cauchman,

This might be a problem with the LabVIEW VI's that were installed.  Check this directory: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\vi.lib\express\source.  You should have two folders with I/O assistant VI's and llb's.  If you don't have this folder, or even if you do you might want to delete them and reinstall them from the LabVIEW CD.  If you don't have the CD I might be able to send you the files.  Thanks and sorry for the delayed response.

I followed the link you mentioned above.  I did find the files.  What LabVIEW CD are you talking about, I checked my install CD but did not find them on that.  Would it work if you emailed them to me? My email address is caunchman@seacorp.com.  I appretiate the help!!!!!! I really need to get this thing working.

Hi Chris,

What version of DAQmx are you using?  You tried repairing most of your other drivers but didn't say anything about DAQmx.  DAQmx is on your LabVIEW Driver CD but that will most likely be a pretty old version.  You might want to upgrade that to at least 8.5, but LabVIEW 7.1 is compatable with the latest DAQmx driver which is 8.8.  You can download a new version at our website at the drivers and updates link.  Just search for DAQmx and select the one you want to download.

Hey Stephen,

I am using DaqMX 8.7...I can try to unload it and reinstall it.  I'm hoping to get this fixed as I said I really need to use this function.

I'll try that hopefully that will fix the problem.......would it be better just to remove it then reinstall it? or does the repair pretty much do the samething.

THanks,

Chris
