What is error 2042300?

I'm deploying an application to XP using LabVIEW 7.1. The application uses NI-VISA and NI-IMAQ functions. It works fine on the development machine, but when I load it on the deployment machine, error 2042300 pops up with a message stating that the full development version of LabVIEW is required to fix it. I have found no documentation at all to explain the error. I suspect it has something to do with NI-Vision, since I removed some NI-IMAQ functions and the error disappeared.

Thank you for contacting National Instruments. If you are using NI-IMAQ functions in your application, which includes all of the fucntions that come with the NI-IMAQ driver and is available for free download from our website, then you must have the NI-IMAQ driver installed on any computer that you deploy your LabVIEW application to. If you are having problems on your deployment machine, then verify that NI-IMAQ is installed. You can check this by opening Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) and examining what software is located under the "Software" folder.

IMAQ Vision for LabVIEW is a separate software package and must be purchased separately from LabVIEW and your other software. If you are using Vision, then in order to create and deploy LabVIEW executable
s using Vision functions, then you will need the Vision Deployment Engine and licenses for each computer that you deploy the executable onto.

If you have any more questions or comments then please let us know.

I was able to fix it by installing the latest version of NI-IMAQ (v2.6.3), NI-VISA (v3.1), and some other packages off of the driver CD from the May 2004 update.

However, I'm still curious to know exactly what the error means. I can find no documentation on it at all. Can you provide any information on it? I would assume since it mentioned needing the full development version it couldn't be a vision problem alone.

In regards to the error number 2042300, I am not finding any reference to that error message, which is a little unusual. If it is a LabVIEW error number, then you can generally see the description of the error by opening LabVIEW and then going to the Help Menu and selecting "Explain Error..." from the menu.

I am glad to hear that everything is working for your application now, and it sounds like the error message was not indication anything missing from LabVIEW or any larger problem, but simply the fact that it was not finding the IMAQ VIs that it expected.

Hi David,

Before continuing with this advice, I would first verify that you are in fact using NI IMAQ or NI VISA software in your application. Assuming that you are, it sounds like Jordan was able to resolve error number 2042300 by reinstalling the most recent versions of these two drivers.

If I happened to be in your situation, I would begin by opening Measurement and Automation Explorer, and navigating to the Software folder to see what particular drivers were installed. I would verify that these driver versions are the most up to date for the operating system. Current driver versions can typically be found here.

Hope this helps!

Robert
