What is LabVIEW CLI and why should I use it with github or gitlab?

I am trying to understand what is LabVIEW CLI. I read some information regarding this topic but I don't understand them. 

It would be nice to read a full description of someone who might have used or still using LabVIEW CLI.

I suppose being a text-based language would make it more suitable for Git than LabVIEW.

Wow, I've been using LabVIEW since version 5 and I never heard of this command-line option before.  Would have been useful a couple times in the past when my IT department wanted to run my LabVIEW code from a script.
