What happens if CompactDAQ gets disconnected?

Hello :

For a costumer I need to work with a NI cDAQ-9178.

What does this device do with it's in- and outputa if the usb connection is disconnect.

Do the digital/analog in- and outputs of the modules keep there last state or do they reset to default.

If the latter, what can I do to reset the in- and outputs to a safe state, given that the cDAQ has no logic like a CompactRIO?

On my quick test on an analog output device it held its last value when USB was removed but AC power remained.  I never knew that.
