What do I need for USB-camera with LabVIEW 7.1

Hello,

I use LabVIEW 7.1 full development package and want to use a USB-camera.
I only need to make snapshots one in a second.
I just want so save the image without any processing.
I tried the VIs by Peter Parente with an old webcam with a resolution 320x240 this worked fine, but I need an higher resolution. So I want to buy a better webcam or other kind of USB-camera und must know what I must be care of that it will work.

Does the VI by Peter Parente work with a resolution about 1280x1024? What should I care of?

If I would make it with Examples with IMAQ, what Software do I need? Do I need only "NI Vision Acquisition Software" or anything else? (and the "NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras.zip")

Hello Torsten,

I don't knowabout Peter's VI, but NI has a set of vi's as well. have a look at this  thread. It is mentioned over there that non-english (german?) version don't work instantly, but read the whole thread and you should get somewhere. You need the IMAQ drivers as well then!

You need the USB for IMAQ drivers, and IMAQ drivers, both are downloadable on the NI site

Or must I buy anything like "NI Vision Acquisition Software"?
Sorry, but I am not familiar with the differences between NI Vision Acquisition Software and IMAQ Vision.
I only know the difference between "NI Vision Acquisition Software" "Vision Builder for Automated Inspection" and "Vision Development Module".

sorry it took some time.
I'm not sure what exactly you need. But if i were you i'd install the USB for IMAQ drivers and the IMAQ drivers for LabVIEW from the resource discs hopefully this will give you what you need.
