Wav to Waveform - amplitude error in LabVIEW 2010

Solved!
Go to solution

Sound and Vibration

Using Multifunction DAQ for microphone and accelerometer real-time and recorded analysis.

Recorded Wav playback and real-time calibrations mV/EU all behave correctly in 2009.

Update to 2010 has caused calibrations amplitudes to vary wildly with no discernable pattern from the same hardware set-up.

This applies to both accelerometer and microphone direct coaxial connection to NI 9233 through USB-9162.

Reading back a file from a calibrated signal in 2009 gives correct signal probes going right back to the svx-Snd Read Waveform.vi.

Reading the exact same file using 2010 gives a different probe amplitude but the orrect frequency.

Wav Recorder in 2009 and 2010 give the same result so it seems to be a change in the Wav file reading and converrsion to the Waveform amplitude.

NI will file a report with the R&D group to fix the problem in a future release of the toolkit, but in the meantime, a good workaround is to use the 2009 version of the svx_Snd Read Waveform VI, while still using it in the LabVIEW 2010 environment.

Hi,

Does any one know if that problem was solved?

I was analizing the svx_Snd Read Waveform.vi from 2011 version as I will need to use it in my application and found that no scaling is applied to the data, see attached image. Is that vehaviour normal or is that problem was not solved?

Regards,

Marc.
