VAS or VDM Deployment License

Solved!
Go to solution

I am developing an application on a one-off production with GigE-cameras.

I will build an executable for the same device.

Before i hand it over to the customer, the dev license is supposed to be deactivated.

There are two ways to activate the VAS Runtime.

(VAS license: 778413-35 and VDM Deployment license: 78044-35)

Is there a preferred solution in this case?

It depends:

VDM is the Vision Development Module which contains the runtime for the IMAQ Vision Analysis functions and the IMAQdx acquisition driver functions.

VAS is the Vision Acquisition Software which only contains the runtime for the IMAQdx acquisition driver functions (and some very rudimentary IMAQ Vision functions to grab an image and display it in an IMAQ control).

If your LabVIEW applications uses any of the analysis type IMAQ Vision functions you will need to get the VDM Deployment license, otherwise you can probably get away with just the VAS Runtime license.

Is there any downside of using the VDM Deplyment license?

Since they cost the same and they are both unlimited, the VDM Deployment license seems to be the better option.

Thanks,

Tobias
