Using PCI 6221 and ACC001 modules to acquire analog voltage signals

Solved!
Go to solution

I have written a vi to acquire voltage signals from proximeters to measure displacement from proximity probes.  I have a SCC2345 front end with ACC001 modules.  It appears the PCI 6221 can accept voltage inputs without the SCC2345 front end.  Am I reading the manual correctly?

Great!  Then forgive this one last question.  Why do they sell analog voltage input modules for the SCC2345 ?

Hi Ron,

because several types of sensors need some "special" requirements like (low-noise) amplifiers, excitation current/voltage, rectification and/or level shifting, …

Do your sensors need some amplification and excitation?

No.  They have their own signal conditioner modules.  Supply 24 volts and the output is a solid voltage signal.  DC for the distance between the probe tip and the shaft, AC for the dynamic motion between the probe tip and the shaft!

Ron
