Units and Purpose of "Step data" components - Stepper Generator VI Softmotion LabVIEW

Hi,

I am using Labview for running a stepper motor, the speed of which I need to vary at random.

I need to use Softmotion (no other choice because of other factors and my card PCI 7813R).

I am using a VI called "Stepper Generator" in the softmotion module.

It takes an input called step data.

This step data has 6 components:

1. First Rate
2. First Count
3. Second Rate
4. Second count
5. Direction
6. Pulse Width

I understand that the first rate and count are the initial data and the second rate and count are the ones that need to be changed.

This thing happens for each cycle.

Now My questions are

What is RATE ?

What is COUNT ?

What are their units ?

What is the unit of the pulse width ?

P.S.: Since I don't want a trajectory and as it complicates my program I do not want to use the "Spline Engine" VI.

Any relevant information given will be appreciated. Thank you.

Basically I need an alternative for "Velocity Step Frequency Modulation" VI that will work in my PCI 7813R card using FPGA.

Any alternative suggestion will be appriciated too.
