Unable to view properties of 'Scaling and Mapping"

Hi,
I have just bought a new license of LabVIEW 8.0 Professional Edition and am going through the "Getting Started" booklet. On page 1-10,it's asking me to get the Configure Scaling and Mapping dialog box.But when I drag and drop the Scaling and Mapping Express VI into the block diagram I get an pop up windows saying "Unable to view properties" and the VI has error that says:
"SubVI Instance: SubVI is not executable"
Details:
The subVI is not executable. You must fix all errors in the subVI before this VI can run.

Any suggestion?
Thank you

On the spash screen during launch, or the Help - About... dialog box, near the upper-left of the window, underneath your name / company / serial number, does it say the following?

"LabVIEW Professional Development System"

I assume it does as you said you had Pro, and that Express VI showed up in the palettes for you.

That said, another thing that could be happening is you might have a VI already in memory that matches the name of one of the subVIs used by the configuration page VI.  Though if you are just running through the Getting Started Manual, I wouldn't expect that either.

Still, try closing all VIs (so that the Getting Started Window comes back up) then create one new VI and drop the Scaling and Mapping Express VI and let me know.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble, especially so soon after starting to use the product.  I'll do my best to help out with this.

Hi,

I did all the things you said and still cant get the VI working. So instead I tried uninstalling all my labVIEWs programs and reinstalling and now the "Configure Scaling and Mapping" express VI is back working.

Thank you

Yes, uninstall and reinstall is always an option, particularly useful when trying to fix a problem whose cause we don't yet fully understand.  Additionally, sometimes it's a pretty long and painful process, depending on what other software you have installed.  We like to try to find the cause, but sometimes it's more important to just get up and running.  It sounds like a file may have been corrupted during installation, glad that worked for you.
