Two cameras take photos simultaneously at the same frame rate

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I would like to write a vi to have two cameras take photos simultaneously at the same frame rate. One camera is a Lasercam HR II and the other is a gigE 680. If you could point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it. I would like to know,

1) Is it possible to sync the cameras?

2) If so, how do I genlock them?

Thank you!

Hi sfsu,

Based on your description, here is are the cameras I think you are using:

LaserCam-HR II - https://cohrcdn.azureedge.net/assets/pdf/LaserCam-HR-II-User-Manual_FORMFIRST.pdf

Allied Vision Prosilica GE680 - https://www.1stvision.com/cameras/AVT/Prosilica-GE680-GE680C.html

Based on the datasheets for both, it looks like you could use an external hardware trigger to take images.  As far as synchronizing them, I would think that you could use a single DIO port (assuming that the two cameras use the same triggering circuitry), and trigger them both off the same line.

Regards.
