I want to use a DAQ Card 6062E to trigger an external device. This device has an input line for triggering whose usual state is +5V, and the acquisition is triggered when the state is 0V. I would like to know if I can use eg the DIG line VI to trigger the acquisition, or if the DAQ card can be damaged if a digital line is configured as an output while connected to a device whose input has a +5V potential. Thank you.
It seems that the triggering line is for output or those voltages are required for trriggering (from an external source). Try to measure the voltage on that line ...
Sorry, I misunderstood the problem. It depends on the trigger device configuration inside your instrument. Thus, the DAQ board can be damaged in some circumstances. Usually, it is a TTL standard trigger and should be safe enough.
The safer way to do that is by using the Dig Line of your DAQ board to switch a realy and that relay would switch the input trigger pin to ground. Hope this helps. Filipe Applications Engineer National Instruments
