Tries to install LV Runtime 8.0 twice when I launch a LV 2010 executable

Hello again,

I'm running into a problem where I launch a LabVIEW 2010 executable, and before it starts I get a dialog box that says it is installing the LabVIEW RunTime 8.0.  If I let it continue, it eventually decides that I need the installer disk for that runtime, which I do not have.  If I hit cancel, it tries again (exact same dialog box).  If I cancel that, then my executable launches as normal and works fine.

Recently I uninstalled NI-VISA to solve another problem, which forced me to also uninstall some other LabVIEW components (such as the RealTime module).  I then reinstalled NI-VISA, and then reinstalled everything from my LabVIEW Developer Suite to get back the uninstalled components.

I'm guessing something in that uninstall and reinstall confused LabVIEW to cause this problem.  The especially annoying part is that I have the feeling this type of thing has happened to me in the past, but I do not remember the solution.  I searched both my posts, the forum, and the knowledge base and found no mention of this type of issue at all.  I'm guessing that means my search terms were not correct rather than meaning this is the first time this has come up for anyone, ever. 

If anyone has any suggestions for making this stop happening, I would be grateful for the help.

Try running a repair on LabVIEW from the windows control panel.

Thank you for your suggestion, but no luck. 

I brought up the Add/Remove Programs control panel, selected to Change/Remove the National Instruments software, selected LabVIEW 2010, and pressed the Repair button.  This resulted in a long procedure which asked for my LabVIEW 2010 and LabVIEW 8.5.1 install discs, which I provided, and then a restart.  The end result is unfortunately no change in the behavior I described above.

Any other ideas?

That worked, sort of! 

I downloaded and ran the installer, and it told me everything was already installed or a higher version except for one minor thing (the license distributer or something like that), so I installed that just for the heck of it.  That did not fix the problem, but when it prompted me for the 8.0 installer this time I was able to provide it a path to the correct .msi file.  It took that and apparently made some configuration changes of some sort to the installation, had me restart my computer yet again, but afterwards it was fixed!  I can now run LabVIEW 2010 executables without annoying dialog boxes again.
