Thermofisher Genesys 20

Greetings all,

My group was resently gifted a thermofisher gensys 20 from another group. They did not have the software with it that would allow it to scan across the spectum. Is there any way that we can use labview to run this instrument or do we have to go with the proprietary software?

Do you have the instruction manual?  Does it contain a section describing the communication protocol and the commands?  If so, then you should be able to write a LabVIEW program to work with it.

The operating/instruction manual does not contain any infomation about commands nor communication protocols. Google searches have also yielded close to nothing.

So you have no information then to start any kind of program.

If you had the software, you could try to do some port sniffing and see what data passes back and forth between the PC and the device to see if you can decode what that communication protocol looks like.  But that would seem to be very difficult without having at least a little bit of information as to what the data looks like.

Have you contacted the manufacturer to see if they have more information?

Have you talked with anyone in the other group that used to own it who might have any information on how they used it?
