I upgraded a couple of computers today to LabVIEW 2018 using the May 2018 Developer Suite. After the install I noticed that if I double clicked on a TDMS file, Excel would open, start importing it, and then I would get an error from Windows saying Excel had crashed. The TDMS file is fine, and can be opened in the TDMS Viewer, and imports fine if I uninstall the version 18.0 of the Add-in and reinstall version 17.0. No error text file was created in the same folder as the TDMS file. And if I relaunch Excel it has a file recovery dialog where I can recover the half imported TDMS file. I've also seen this two other computers all using the same version of Excel 2013 some on Windows 7 x64, some on Windows 10 x64. Same issue on several different TDMS files. For now I just have been uninstalling 18 and reinstalling 17. Can anyone else reproduce this issue? Thanks.

I will recommend you to contatc NI support, since not all people is using LV 2018 , it might be an issue with the software, but I have not reproduce the issue.

Hi, I installed LV 2018, and try to open a TDMS file, but I dit not see the behaviour you mentioned therefore, I would like to know if you can provide me with a little bit more information:
1.Does this happens on all TDMS files? Or just with big ones?
2. What do you men by "uninstall the version 18.0 of the Add-in "
3. Have you checked on other office versions?
Please let me know so I can continue reproducing it, as I mentioned, I have not been able to reproduce it, it work fine for me, but I might be doing something different than you.

1. Not all TDMS files, just the important ones. I suspect it has something to do with the format of the data we are flattening. The file is quite small. Attached is one such TDMS file that crashes Excel 2013 with version 18.0.
2. I mean I uninstalled version 18 of the Add-in by going through NI's uninstaller which is found in the Add/Remove Programs. If I re-install version 17.0 it opens just fine. 18.0 crashes every time.
3. I only have access to this version of Excel at the moment.

I was actually able to reproduce the same issue you are experimenting with LV 2018 using your TDMS file, what are the main differences between this TDms file and the ones that does not have the issue.?

The files that are crashing Excel, appear to be ones that have a relatively large amount of data in single properties on channels. For instance the Property "Type" for the Virtual Sensor Chennel in the Battery Settings Group has a value of:

LabVIEW 2018 SP1 was released (tomorrow?), and with it is a new version of the TDM Excel Add-in version 18.0.1 (separate download here). My issue appears to be fixed with this importer on my TDMS files with this version.
