Stepper motor control through COM port using labView

Solved!
Go to solution

I need to control the position, velocity and acceleration of 3 stepper motors simultaneously. So, I used a TinyG stepper motor driver board which takes G-code as input. I have connected the TinyG board to the COM port in my computer. I want to use LabView to write G-codes to the TinyG through the COM port. How do I go about this?

Hi nitm,

you use VISA functions to write your "G codes" to the COM port.

LabVIEW comes with a huge library of example VIs, there are also examples for serial port communication!

Google "g-code LabVIEW" and you should get a lot of hits to other discussions about this topic. And as GerdW has mentioned, there are a lot of examples of COM port usage in LabVIEW.

Hi,

I am trying to use TinyG driver port too. I have problem communicate with it via Labview. Would you mind sharing the program you wrote for tinyG?
