Status lines of RS232 and visa

hello everyone,
I'm trying to use the low-level register functions to
read the status bytes from the ports of serial interfaces.
reason: I'm trying to check the status of a device only has
a relay output (on/off). I'm trying to hook this thing
up with the computer.
I'd appreciate any ideas regarding progamming (or do
I need to use the CIN functionality).

Best wishes,

Which OS? Under Windows NT you need the file "hwaccess" from the NI ftp
server.
You can read port data with the "in port" vi. You find it in "advanced/
memory".

By the way: is "blahfasel" your first name or your surname?

Look at the (german) newspaper "Linux-Magazin" 11/99, they write a lot
about LabView under Linux.
They refer also to the TU Berlin, the folks there might know how to solve
your problem.

Ok, I'll drop by a newsstand after lectures are over

I think I looked at their pages, but didn't find anything yes.
I received a message from an NI tech guy saying I should take
a closer look at the property nodes (didn't get around to
actually trying it, but there seems to be a line monitor somewhere.)
