Position Description: Design, construction, and operational oversight of image and signal acquisition & processing systems used in whole animal models i.e. physiology and behavior. Such systems may require either the development of original instrumentation and or the integration of third party instruments. Initial focus will be on Neuroscience projects, but the incumbent will be expected to contribute expertise as appropriate to projects in other therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular & metabolic diseases, oncology & immunology. Identify, evaluate and reduce to practice new optical imaging and machine vision technologies for in vivo studies.
Position Requirements: Ph.D.or M.S. in a scientific or engineering discipline, preferably in Biophysics or Biomedical Engineering, with 3+ years experience working in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology context. B.S. level candidates with extensive experience 7+ years will also be considered. The successful candidate should have a proven track record of technology development for in vivo experimentation, including some of the following intravital microscopy, fiber optic imaging, imaging in flow machine vision & image processing electronics for biosignal acquisition & processing. Programming of laboratory automation applications in Visual Basic, Labview or other environments. Strong communication and collaboration skills. An ability to interact, with credibility and confidence, with project scientists at all levels. The position is based in Wallingford, CT, but occasional travel to Lawrenceville & Hopewell, NJ.
