Yeah, it was as close as I could get to answer the original question.
If you want to get the coordinates on a flat surface, like the desk, you would need to make a calibration grid and use the NI calibration to map the desk surface to the image. At that point, you can use local -> global conversions to convert any point in the image to a point on the desk. You don't need to regenerate the image to do the conversions.
