Shared Variable Engine over VPN

Hi. I have an executable running on an RT-Target under Linux-RT. It hosts the Shared Variable Engine and I can read the variables in a VI running on my Win10 PC as long as the RT-Target and the Windows-PC are in the same physical network.

If I run the RT-Target in my companie's network and connect to it via VPN from home, then it does not work. The error message is shown below.

If I start the DSM on the Win10-PC being connected via VPN, then I can read the variables. So it does work in principle, but not inside my VI.

So the difference is what you start first?

Probably your company's firewall with that VPN blocks one or more required ports when they are initiated from one side, but is open from the other.
