That is what I do at the company I work for, write test automation software to
control test control systems, switching test path relays and communicating to
the instrumentation. Labview is the way.

Henry,
What other types of software similar to Labview are used in industry? Is
Labview the most prevalent?

Steve,

Besides Testpoint from Keithley (which I have never seen used) I know of
several other programs, but they are mainly for automation control, not so much
for handling instrumentation communications and processing such communications
(among other tasks) while also being able to preform the automation control.
We are primarily replacing antiquated DOS based programs that previously did
the job, but now really can not be considered competitive. Besides the obvious
reasons, the Labview applications always evoke the same response from the
users, smiles when using the new interface!

Hewlett Packard offers a visual programming environment similar to Labview.
They call it HP VEE.
