Remove space from a tree control

In a tree control you can hide the symbols but the space for them remains. Is there a way to remove the excess space in the tree control? This will shrink the amount of horizontal space a tree control takes up on the front panel.

I don't think there is a way to show lower hierarchy items in the same position of an item in a higher hierarchy.
Perhaps you could add this to the ideas exchange, so R&D can have a visibility that you would like that to be possible. Here is the link.

I couldn't find a way to do it, even digging into hidden properties.

I suspected it wasn't removable. It bugs me that not showing the symbol still has a spot where it would go.
