Read and write to an USB device without any products from NI

Hi!

Is there any possibility to read an USB device and write to it without any NI products?

I want to measure temperature with several sensors from Dallas (DS18S20).

I'm using Labview 8.2.

Hey, I have never used Dallas sensors but I just used Google and found this which might help you.

Also here you can find some basics of using USB in LabVIEW. But USB communication is always a bit tricky. Have fun

But I already tried to read and write to my sensors in knowledge of these sites but it doesn't work.

All the stuff which is in the package you mentioned doesn't help me to get any access to the USB device.
However, the directly executable programs which are included there aren't able to find the USB device although Windows is able to see it.
And this is needed to go on with all other VIs.
