what is the problem with cstorey's answer, that was posted  just before your question?

Did you read the manual of your device to learn abut the communication scheme?

Did you try to use any of the VISA serial port examples?

why do you ask in an old thread about RS485 when your VI is using TCP and ModBUS communication?

Please create your own threads instead of hijacking unrelated old threads!

On the error: your device didn't answer to the ModBUS request.
