RT Desktop PC intel 82547 Gigabit

Hi,

I got a desktop PC with embedded intel 82547 Gigabit ethernet chipset. I've tried to use it as a RT Target Desktop PC, but the ethernet chipset is not supported natively through the RT Format disk. I hope it will work with the NI-INTEL8254X driver.
The problem is for installation : is there a way to to build a boot disk with the driver, or do i need to purchase a compatible PCI card (like Intel PRO 100 S) ?
If I use a Intel PRO 100 S for installation, i think i can install the driver for the build-in card. After that, can i remove the PCI card and use the
embedded one as primary card ?

Thanks

Hello Ludos,

Did you solve your problem. Do you know the following link: Requirements for a Desktop PC as a LabVIEW Real-Time Target

Keep me informed.

Best regards,

Hello Mathieu,

After some tests (and some holidays...), i stop trying to use the embedded 82547 which seams to be not supported, and use an Intel PRO 100 PCI card.
In fact there is a 8254x driver for the rt target, but in the requirement list for desktop pc as rt target, only the 82540 is listed, and the 82547 chip is not recognise by the rt engine. Perhaps in future versions of labview-rt...

Best regards

Hi ludos

Just in case if you're interested... Although not listed specifically, the Intel 82541 Gigabit ethernet adapter works in RT. We're using it in LabVIEW RT 7.1, but I think it'll work in LV RT 8/8.2 as well. And it worked directly after setup with the format disk, so no software installation was required. So I think switching to 82547 after software installation won't work, but I'm not sure about that.
It's a bit confusing, the driver is called 8254x but it seems it doesn't work with all cards of that series.

Daniel
