Quadrature encoder for angler position with Crio in Real Time

Im trying to get a steering angle using an encoder in realtime. I have the encoder hooked up and I got the the I/O set to quadrature and I get the postion input box on the bolck diagram but when I hook a numaric indacator to it i dont get a reading. Any Ideas?

Hello jmchandler,

 

Could you provide more background on your application. What hardware and software configuration are you using? Is your application being done strictly in RT, are you using FPGA mode or Scan Engine Mode?

I have a cRIO 9075 with a NI 9401, the encoder is a Omron E6B2-CWZ2C. I am trying to use to tell me steering angle and on a side by side atv. I have the RT and FPGA software that I can use. I have been trying to use the scan mode. What I need to do is to beable to set the max turn in the left and right directions and have it center it self to 0 when your going straight.
