Project help - microscopic real time labview image processing

Hi there,

I am trying to work on this project, but I don't know if it is do able.

I want to take on the challenge but I just wanna make sure its possible before I tell my manager that I want to do it.

We have this problem,

we got this cylinderal obect (like a cup). We want to draw x y coordniates around the circle as reference for the tech to follow in placing down gauges. the inner circle diameter is 2mm, the cup full diameter is 3.0 mm.

let me show it to you guys in picture.

 We need something like this

DSC03172_SV100265_2.JPG

As the person placing the gauges down. There is ZERO gauge at first, then down 1 at a time (4 max), the crosshair would basically travel too.

We currently doesnt have any marking around the cup to indicate, but we can add them if needed.

Can someone advice me if it is possible?

what kind of national vision equipment would i need?

Best regards,
Krispiekream

Kris,

from the images shown ,

I guess you can match the patterns that are regular in the all the images in the stream,

then get your reference point to them .

and thereby you could get the cross hair to follow along.

Hello Krispiekream,

You can use NI Vision Development Module to do that. You would basically perform patter matching then draw overlay on the image.

Here are a few great examples/references that show the capability of Vision Development Module.

Okay,

so i would have to get the vision module software.

how about the image from our INDUSTRIAL VISION SOURCE model IV-CCAM2 with an S-Video output?

what NI card would I need to process the image from that camera?

Also, just for reference, if someone would to design and implement this custom application, how much would it cost?

Best regards,

Hello Krispiekream,

You can use the Industrial Camera Advisor to find out if your camera is supported and a list of recommended vision boards that are recommended.
