Non-sequential enums

Hi everyone,

I know this has been a problem for awhile, but does LabView have any way yet of creating an enumeration where the values can be explicitly specified?  It would save a lot of conversions for me.

Thanks,

Unfortunately no. The enum datatype does not have support for this. See here for some more.

No, Enums cannot be sparsely numbered.  However Rings can be sparse, but the trade-off is that they aren't strongly typed like the enums.  Any numeric including a slightly different version of your ring can be wired to or from your ring.  You would be strongly advised to use Typdefs and pay attention when you see coercion dots on your diagram.

That's what I had thought.  Any ideas of whether or not there are plans to add this?  It is sorely needed.
