Newbie: What's it called?

I'm a complete newbie but trying to get up to speed. This question has
me baffled because I don't know what to call it to search online and
in docs.

Say I have a pointer slide and a dial. I want to be able to adjust
either one and have the other update as well.

I see grouped controls like this in sample VIs but how do I make my
own - or just what are they called?

Thank you.

If you place an event structure inside a while loop (both in the structures palette), you can react on value change on either of them and update the value of the other.
Like the attached VI...

There's another possiblity (I learned recently):
Drop a dial control, right click on it select Advande Custimized.
A Control customize window opens, right click on the dial select Visible->Digital Display.
Right click on the new numeric control select Replace->Numeric->Slider

Now you have two controls which act like one!

Hi Ton,
I remember this thread too, it was a suggestion of altenbach (who else?), but it was the time, when LV 8 was released already and it was figured out, that this kind of customization was not possible since Ver. 8.0. Lucky who has still 7.1.1 installed Smiley Very Happy

P.S. I couldn't find that thread, maybe you can, this demo-VI of altenbach was very surprising...

Ton,

Neat trick, never considerd this, but never needed it either!

Note that you can keep doing this! If you replace the numeric control with a
slider, you can right click the slider, and select visible items>digital
display. Don't know how many times you can repeat this, I tried 3 in total.

Regards,

Wiebe.

If I remember correctly Altenbach showed a 'control' with > 10 controls, including a chart indicator, but that is something I didin't get to work.
