I must admit, I'm a bit curious by what you mean with "...it trashed all my
setting for a daq-500". There are only 2 settings you can choose for this
card: Device number, and accessory. The rest of the card's information is
held by the operating system... such as base address, IRQ, slot, etc. NI-DAQ
simply reads this info from the OS.
Was the problem, perhaps with any custom Channel Wizard channels? With NI-DAQ
6.5.x (which came out about a year ago), we introduced the Measurement &
Automation Explorer. This utility integrates the former Channel Wizard from
LabVIEW, into its own shell. These channels are referred to in M&A Explorer
as "Virtual Channels". The upgrade path should have been seemless.
NI-DAQ 6.6, was rigorously tested before it was released and is quite possibly
the most stable version I have ever seen. I apologize for the fact that
you have seen difficulty using NI-DAQ, however your efforts would have been
much better spent working with our support team to find a fix to your problem.
If you have not already, please contact them at: support@ni.com
