NI 9205 Thermocouple Reading

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I am using the NI 9205 to read a type J thermocouple. I am trying to read ambient temperature. It starts out with a reasonable temperature reading (ie. 63F) and then after 6ish seconds, it plummets to -130F. It doesn't change again. I am using Labview 8.6 and using NI MAX to configure the thermocouples. Ideas? Thoughts?

Ideas/Thoughts:

- use a NI9211 module instead of a generic NI9205

- still using LV8.6 nowadays?

- how did you wire the thermocouple?

- how did you configure the voltage reading?

- how do you convert from voltage to temperature?

- where do you get CJC from?

- why don't you attach your VI?

Best regards,
GerdW

I figured it out. My NI9205 is broken, so I switched to NI9211. Yes I still use LV8.6 for research. I was given a box of hardware from a research experiment 10 years ago and told to put it back together. Ha ha trying to get old software to work with the hardware has been crazy. However, your suggestions helped. Thank you!
