My serial communication commands dont work in MAX

Solved!

Thank you for the response.

I only have one Oven.

Idk why all the other GPIB addresses show up.

I tried Status?\r\n and Temp?\r\n.

The oven works on another computer that's running an older Windows OS.

The cables are not even close to 2m long.

I attached a picture with nothing attached to the GPIB-USB-HS

Time to start at the beginning.  I suspect your problem is with the GPIB-USB setup and not the oven at all.

- What sort of GPIB-USB are you using?  (NI, Keysight, etc.)

- Have you specifically installed the driver for the GPIB-USB? (If not an NI device then you need the driver software for it.)

- Do a scan for instruments in NI-MAX and show us the screen cap of the oven at the expected address.  If it doesn't show up, then the GPIB-USB connection is your problem.  Unplug it, re-install driver, reboot, plug it in and make sure it is properly configured.

- Next step is to make sure you can demonstrate that the GPIB-USB is working with another instrument.  (Proving its the oven's fault.)

Once the GPIB-USB is working with another device, move on to debugging the oven.  Hopefully you are disconnecting PC#1 before attaching PC#2.  Only attach one PC at a time and try the commands mentioned before.

Thanks all for the help.

It was the NI-VISA driver.

I had to download 16.0.

All works.

Hey, I asked in a new forum, but maybe its quicker if I ask you. Is it possible to use the PID function in LabVIEW for the GPIB device?
