I tried connecting my cRIO 9073 to my PC directly through ethernet and via a network switch as well. Default IP, subnet mask, DNS address, gateway and Time Server IP are all set to 0.0.0.0 at powerup (as mentioned in its datasheet). Since I can't get my PC on the same subnet, I am not able to locate this device in MAX. I even tried to power up cRIO in safe mode but no gain. Can anyone help me with this?

Since the subnet mask is 0.0.0.0, you should be able to communicate with the cRIO by setting the same mask and any IP address on your computer.
Did you check the cRIO Part Number as suggested in the user manual?

Yeah..but PC IP address cannot be 0.x.x.x.

If the subnet mask is allowed to be 0.0.0.0, any IP address should be good (any but 0.0.0.0, of course, which is the address of your device).
Try with 1.1.1.1. I agree it's somewhat bizarre. Never tried myself.

No, even the subnet mask cannot be made 0.0.0.0.

please don't ever use 0.0.0.0 as an IP address
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0.0.0.0
choose something from here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Protocol_Version_4#Private_networks
also i'm quite sure my crio was initially configured to get IP from DHCP,
if that fails, it will have an IP somewhere in the 169.254.*.* subnet

maybe this thread helps you https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Determine-a-cRIO-IP-address-when-MAX-cannot-find-the-target-NI/td-p...
