Modbus communication with PXI RT 8840

Hi all,

I have a third party hardware ( RS 485 ) that will read the temperature from the field. So from the Host PC, I am using the RS 485 to RS 232 converter and reading the temperatures ( Modbus )  . No issues in this. I am also having the PXI 8840 controller ( RT )  and PXI 1071 chassis. In the 8840 Controller, I am having the RS 232 port. so what were the steps to read a temperature ( Modbus ) through this (8840) ? ?

Hi willcan,

connect your RS485-to-232 converter to the RS232 port of your PXI-RT card.

Then use the same VIs with the serial port of the PXI-RT instead of the host PC port - ofcourse running the VIs in the RT target…

Best regards,
GerdW

Already i tried that and failed. The same program when I run from the host PC means I am getting output. That's why I posted here

Hi willcan,

what about posting your VI (or a stripped-down version of it)?

Best regards,
GerdW

How does it fail?  Are you getting an error message?
