Labview: save for previous version (8.5 to 6.0)

Hello All!

I have problem with saving for previous version 8.5 to 6.0.

As I know, usually it is possible to make a step back to previous version only.

It means for convertion from 8.5 to 6.0 I should make the following chain :

8.5 to 8.0

8.0 to 7.1

7.1 to 7.0

7.0 to 6.1

6.1 to 6.0

Could anyone suggest some better way please?Smiley Wink

Hi Rustan,

the way you posted is correct, the other solution is to write your code again in LV6.0. Smiley Wink

My method is correct theoretically, but in practice I need to have all of these versions installed on my PC. Smiley Surprised

It makes practical application of this method little bit difficult.

I thought maybe somewhere there is some tool for such conversion.....

Thanks for reply!Smiley Wink

Hi Rustan,

if you have only some vi´s, you can post them and the forum community will help you. Smiley Happy

No, thanks, I have a few old PCs with 6.0 so it tends to be a regular work.Smiley Mad

Strange that nobody asked this question before.

Hi Rustan,
another solution is to ask NI. I know there is a tool to convert older VI`s to newer versions (you have to order it AFAIK it´s free of charge), maybe there is a tool for the other way.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

I also heard some rumors about such tool, but never seen it in a real life.

Well, I have already requested NI, so I expect they will answer me soon.

The tool to convert very old VI (3.x or older), is nothing more than LabVIEW 4. Saving for previous versions is a question that has been asked numerous times and the official answer is always the process you are doing now. While all things are possible, I doubt you will find anything better.

Well, I also have a lot of doubts.

Otherwise there would be no stimulus to upgrade to new version.Smiley Mad
