Labview V4.02 --> V5.1

Hello out there,

I have created an application in Labview V4.02 and when I try to load it
into V5.1 it tells me that
my V4.02 .vi is not a .vi. It seems bizarre that the program will not
even recognize its own files,
can anyone tell me how to overcome this problem?

Thanx,
Karl

Karl, that's happened to me when i forgot to add the '.vi' extension.
LV doesn't add it automatically, if you rename a file, etc.

Hello Robert,

Have you loaded LV4.02 .vis into LV5.1.1? The .vi I tried to load does have
the .vi extension.
Thanks for the reply.

Does this happen with all of your VIs or just one? Do the VIs you're trying
to convert have a diagram? A diagram is required in order to do the conversion.
I can load into LabVIEW 5.1 any of my old ones going back to VIs created
by version 3.1. If you attach one of the VIs (a small one) to a posting,
maybe someone can determine what's wrong.

Hello Dennis,

I have only tried two vis. Actually they were created on a computer back at the
University
I worked in Wisconsin. The vis were email attached and sent to me here in CA, I have
since
sent them back attached to email and they load fine on the old version.

One difference however is that the program worked with a specific card and dll files
which came
with it. Maybe when labview cannot find the dll file it will refuse to load the
program and they do
not have an error message for that specific problem.

Thanx,
Karl
