Labview DSC 7.1 and USB keyboard problem

I have been getting a new computer ready to replace a faulty computer in the factory

I got a new Dell Precision 670 workstation - 2gig ram - dual 3.4ghz - scsi raid
The computer is just a newer model of what we already have in the factory

Install labview and DSC and Restart or Shutdown will not work. The computer shows the shutdown dialog - once the dialog goes away the computer would just sit there with the mouse pointer in the middle of the screen

After much work - I removed XP and put 2k - twice each - I noticed that the keyboard would light the ScrollLock and NumLock when the shutdown dialog box disappeared. The Keyboard is a Dell USB model that comes with workstations by default now. Plug a normal keyboard in and remove the usb and the system works fine.

Just a FYI

Doug,

A solution may be to uninstall the NI Keyboard Driver Filter installed with DSC. It may not be compatible with DSC. To uninstall the driver go to Add/Remove Programs >> National Instruments Software >> Modify... >> NI LabVIEW DSC Module 7.1 >> Modify...

This will load the DSC un/installer utility. Select NI Keyboard Driver Filter for uninstall and confirm that you want to uninstall it. This should fix your problem. This feature is used to disable certain keyboard features as a safety measures for factory floors and situations where the keyboard is used to halt processes.
