Hello,

My research lab previously used Labview 7 Express.  Recently my university purchased a site license for Labview and I am in the process of upgrading to 8.5 on several XP machines.  So far everything has gone well (all machines with no IO capabilities) except for one machine.  This machine is our primary acquisition machine and contains 3 NI DAQ boards as well as a GPIB board.  After "sucessfully installing" Labview 8.5, I go to load Labview directly (not opening a specific VI, after rebooting) and it produces an error and asks to send the error to Microsoft (etc).  I'm wondering if this may be something specific to this machine or if anyone else has had this issue?

Other points to note, I have not installed the device drivers for 8.5 yet which may be a problem.  Also, I noticed that Labview 7 had a few bugs that were not present in other installations of Labview 7 (on different machines), which may be a problem with the specific machine.  I'm avoiding uninstalling both versions of Labview for compatibility reasons, however this may be an option.  Thanks!

Hi Chris,

There should be no problem with having both LabVIEW 7 and LabVIEW 8.5 on the same machine, but it is conceivable that if errors were present in the installation of 7, they could still haunt you in 8.5. However, my first step would be to install the drivers CD for the machine. It should always be installed last, and the hardware will not work correctly untill its installation is complete. With all that said, it would be pretty helpfull to have either a screenshot, or a more detailed description of the error.
