LabView update from V7.0 to V7.1

Hi,

i want to upgrade my system from LV 7.0 to LV 7.1. Should i remove completly LV 7.0 before installing LV 7.1?
I've tried to install LV 7.1 without removing LV 7.0 and now have the problem that i couldn't start the MAX.
Could someone tell me what's the best way to upgrade it?

Can I also use the FieldPoint 4.0.1 with LV 7.1?

Thanks for your help.

regards

LabVIEW 7 and 7.1 can peacefully coexist on a system (make sure to apply the two patches to 7.1 to make it 7.11f2).  I'm not sure what happened to MAX, but you can either Repair the install from the Windows control panel, or update MAX to 4.1 by installing the latest DAQmx and other device drivers.  Those can be found here.  FieldPoint 4.0.1 should work with LabVIEW 7.11, but why?  There's 5.0.1 out there, and it's freely available at that same link!

Editorial comment - Also, check your calendar because for all of 2006, we've had LabVIEW 8.0 and now 8.20.  Actually, you are perhaps lucky to have skipped 8.0, but now that 8.20 is out it's time to go for it.

Hi Dan,

thanks for your answer.I've tried to do it your way but nothing did change. And i saw that 2 different Runtime-Engines (LV 7.0 RT and LV 7.1 RT) were also installed. That maybe the reason why the MAX didn't started as expected.

I will try to install it again and hope that this time it will run properly.

hi there

of course there are two RTEs! one for each LV version (in fact the RTE is the core of LV).

try to remove all LV related software from your system, then install first LV 7.0 (and updates) and then LV 7.1 (and updates). make sure to install MAX with 7.1, this should work.

Best regards
chris
