Solved!

Hi everyone,

I want to install Labview 2012, I have now Labview 2011 and all of my programs built in 2011, do you think that it makes some problem when I install Labview 2012 ? all of my program are ex file. ( I have licnese labview).

I have another question about Ex file, I am using PXie4330, 4353 and 6363 , is it possible to build executable file for them ? as they run in target ?

thanks

There is nothing wrong with having multiple versions of LabVIEW installed.  I currently have 8.2, 2011, 2011 64-bit, 2012, and 2012 64-bit.  The only thing to watch out for is that fact that you can only have 1 set of each driver (DAQmx, NI-DMM, etc) installed.

Hi,

As crossrulz said, you can install LabVIEW versions side by side. Having 2011 and 2012 together is no problem (I have 2010, 2011 and 2012 all on the same machine). You mentioned that all of your programs are ex files. I am assuming you mean you have LabVIEW executables (.exe) written in LabVIEW 2011?

Executables do not require the development environment to run, but they do require the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. For executables built in LabVIEW 2011, you will need the LabVIEW 2011 Run-Time Engine (or the 2011 SP1 one). For VIs written in 2011, you can open those directly in the 2012 development environment and run them. Note that if you save them they will now be 2012 VIs and you will have to Save for Previous Version to open them in 2011 again.

Hope that helps,
