LabVIEW failing to run on Microsoft Surface with Snapdragon processor (ARM)

Hi everyone,

I am unable to get LabVIEW running on my system and would appreciate some troubleshooting insights. Here are all the specific details:

1. System Hardware, Software, & Versions:

  • Hardware / Device: Microsoft Surface

  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon (ARM architecture)

  • OS: Windows 11

  • LabVIEW Version: [LabVIEW 2026 Q1 64-bit]

2. The Issue & Error Messages:

  • When attempting to install LabVIEW, the application fails to install.

3. Troubleshooting Steps Already Attempted:

  • I verified that the Windows installation is fully updated.

  • I tried adjusting the Windows compatibility settings (Properties -> Compatibility) for the executable, but it did not resolve the issue.

  • I suspect the issue is deeply tied to the Windows on ARM emulation layer failing to interpret the x64 compiled binaries of LabVIEW.

My Questions:

  1. Is LabVIEW officially supported on Windows 11 ARM (Snapdragon)?

  2. Are there specific compatibility or emulation settings required to bypass this failure?

  3. Is there a specific 32-bit vs 64-bit version of LabVIEW that handles the ARM emulation layer better?

I have attached a screenshot of the exact behavior/error I encounter. Any help from the community or NI engineers would be highly appreciated!

Thanks!

AFAIK, NI software does not support ARM architecture. You'll see many more such posts about Snapdragon-related issues on this forum.

1. ARM is not supported.

2. sorry, can't help you there.

3. LV is an x86 program, thus not ARM. It's possible the emulation can be made to work in which case i'd assume the 32 bit is easier. Maybe you can install a virtual computer like BVM and run it that way?

Getting DAQ to work is probably impossible.
