LabVIEW 8.0 overwrite protection

I am experiencing difficulties saving changes made on an old VI. I am not sure what the issue is that restricts me from rewriting over the VI. In some instances while closing the VI front panel a dialog box appears momentarily with the word "resetting". The question is, does labVIEW have overwrite protection controls and if so, how can I disable it?

Are the VI or any of the subVI's password protected?

None of the sub VIs are password protected. The only thing that i have successfully changed on the VI is its name.

Are the VIs read-only, and do you have the "Treat read-only VIs as locked" and the "Do not save automatic changes" options set (Tools -> Options -> Environment)?
