Investigating a poorly documented subVI

Hello,

I am trying to discover the wiring of a poorly (non, actually)
documented subVI.

I call up the VI, and click on the icon in the upper right of the Panel
window:
(ie.. Show connector)

Now I want to see which input maps to the icon.

I can convert to the Operating Tool.

And if I click on a box in the VI icon, I see that the corresponding
panel
icon is highlited.

So, this seems to work. But then tool is coverted to wiring tool...
as if it is expecting me to INITIATE wiring.

I DO NOT want to initiate wiring...
I want to SEE the current wiring.

Thus, I think my approach is just a kludge and would like to know
the PROPER way.

THanks
tom

Tom,
There are two ways to look at the wiring.
The method you describe is actually how you INITIATE wiring
but you should be able to look at it without making changes.
If you click on a terminal with the operating tool it will change to
the wiring tool. Simply click on a blank spot on the panel to end
the wiring. You could also click on a panel object and the
terminla will highlight.

A
nother method is to place the subvi on a diagram and use the
wiring tool to idle over the terminals. If the panel objects are named
then the name should popup on the tool tip.

Good luck.

Tom :
If I understand your situation you wnat to locate the terminals on the
wiring diagram that corespond to the subVI's input and output cannector
panes. Once you know which display panel corespond to which conncetor
terminal just right click on the panel and pull down to "Find terminal".
That will get you there.
