Installer error

Hello,

I have Labview 8.0 and want to use the installer. My instrument uses serial
comunication that's why i select at "additional installers" the "ni-serial".
My installer is building without any problems when I do not select
"ni-serial". When I select the one the builder ask me for the driver CD and
load anything. Then he ask me for "Setup" from a CD but he doesn't accept
any of the CD's from the labview package.

regards
Marco

Marco,

Can you tell me what release of software you have installed?  Most CD's have a month and year printed on them.

When the Installer builder asks for the CD, what is the exact message on the screen?  It should include the month and year of the CD it is looking for.

Hello,

I use Labview 8.0.1 with included Builder.

I choose from Installer Properties, from Additional Installers the
following:
- NI Labview Run-Time Engine 8.0.1
- NI Serial 1.8

Then I start installer process:
First i were asked for "NI Distribution Gerätetreiber - November 2005"
distribution, I insert CD and process is working for one or two minutes then
it asked for "Setup" distribution. None of my CD's are accepted in this
case.

Do anyone have an idea?

regards
Marco

Marco,

I have been fighting a similar situation with 8.2.  In my case I had installed several previous versions of LabView.  The latest version did not install properly over the older version.  I corrected the problem by completely removing LabView from my two computers and installing NI again.  That included manually deleting directories and entries in the WindowsXP registry using regedit.

I know that other users are having similar problems.  You may wish to contact NI support and see if they have a fix other than a time consuming re-install of LabView.

Hello centerbolt,

I have connected the local NI representative some time, the only thing what
they want is to sell the version 8.2.
I'll try you tip and will uninstall all then I hope it will run.

regards
Marco

I had this problem as well.  I believe this happened when I ran a setup program built by a LabVIEW 7.0 installer on a LabVIEW 8.0 Development environment.  I found reference to the "Setup" distribution in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\Common\Installer\Distributions

I found two sub keys at this location that had a Value Name "Title" with a value data of "Setup" and deleted the entire sub keys that contained them.  After restarting LabVIEW I was successfully able to build my installer without it prompting me for this mysterious "Setup" distribution.
