Ideas for this problem

I have been bogged down with the following problem for quite a while
now. The VI we developed doesn't wanna work at all. See if any of you
can figure out a way to solve the problem !!

Thanks in advance !!

We have two NI boards:
PCI-MIO-16XE-10 (Call it Device-1)
PCI-6111-E (Call it Device-2)

We have a RTSI bus between the two boards

We have LABView 5.1 on Windows NT

We have two sensors:
A Kistler Dynamometer (type 9257B) with 5 analog channels (Force-Z,
Force-X1, Force-X2, Force-Y1, and Force-Y2)
Physical Acoustics Corporation Acoustic Sensor (Model #R15 and Serial#
BN98) with 1 analog channel (Acoustic)

OBJECTIVE:
To use LABView 5.1 to collect data from both boards in a synchronized
manner.
The data collection process will depend on the amplitude of "Force-Z"
anaolog channel
on Device-1. The trigger value for the channel is a known constant.
Once the "Force-Z" analog
channel exceeds the trigger level, the data collection process starts
instantly on "BOTH" boards.
Device-1 should scan all 5 analog channels at 2 KHz and Device-2 should
scan Acoustic analog
channel at 1MHz, continously. The data collection process terminates
on "both" boards
simultaneously when the amplitude of the "Force-Z" analog channel on
Device-1 falls beneath
the trigger level.

Kistler dynamometer is hooked to Device-1 and Acoustic sensor is hooked
to Device-2.

In summary, we have the following:
- Both boards start data collection at the same instant
- Both boards stop data collection at the same instant
- Data collection is based on the amplitude of "Force-Z" analog channel
on Device-1
- Data collection for all the channels on both boards takes place only
when the "Force-Z" analog channel exceeds the trigger level
- Data is collected on the two boards at two different sampling rates
(2KHz on Device-1 and 2MHz on Device-2)
- The data collection time period is not known and will only depend on
the amplitude of the "Force-Z" analog channel on Device-1

PS: To reduce the contract cost, we would like you to primarily
concentrate on
- Synchronization using RTSI bus
- Analog trigger channel on Device-1 for starting and stopping the data
collection
- Different data collection rates on both boards

Ok, I think we can make this work for you. Assuming that the DAQ boards
meet the aquisition rates you describe.

Are you soliciting for the services of a labview programmer? I noticed that
you have a mention of contracting cost at the bottom of your post.

Okay, how much would you expect for making this kind of a VI for us.
Yes, these daq boards can certainly meet the acquisition rate !!

i would look forward to your reply !

I stand firm on $1500.

The low bidder method may not get you the result you need. My program is
proven, I wrote this same application in 1996 for an agency that I am no
longer with. Virtually the same app, but different sample rates.

But if you want to trifle over a few bucks, go for the $1k solution.
