I get an error message when I try to start up LabVIEW 8.0.1

Specifically the error message is

Executable version (8.0) doesn't match resource file (8.0.1).
Check your configuration.

What should I do?

Thanks!

try deleting the ini file for labview 8.0. and then restart labview and see if this helps.

I renamed the Labview.ini file in the 8.0 directory. This didn't do any good. It occurred to me to re-install 8.0.1. It would not overwrite the existing install.

So I am doing a repair on the installation via Add Remove programs.

Clendon,
I'm gonna take a swing at this... I'm guessing what's happened is that at one point in time you had LabVIEW 8.0.1 and then repaired with the 8.0 install.... the problem is that the "labview.rsc" (8.0.1) file in the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.x\resource directory doesn't match the version of the labview.exe (8.0). The easiest way to get around this would be to delete the .rsc file and the repair your LabVIEW install. However, at this point, I'm not sure what else might be wrong, so if the above suggestion doesn't help out, I suggest uninstalling LabVIEW, deleting the LabVIEW directory,  and reinstalling LabVIEW.

Post to let us know if this helps out.

REmoving the LabVIEW.rsc file and then doing a repair did not help. One of the steps that goes wrong is that the repair process asks for the NI Driver CD. When I put it in, it claims that the CD is not the proper distribution.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you tried the other driver disk? At least in 8.0 there are 2 device driver CD's.

You are correct, and yes I did try the other driver disk.

clendon,
Have you installed drivers from ni.com that are newer than what is on your cds? What distribution does it say it is looking for?

At this point it may just be worth while to get your system in a known state by uninstalling and reinstalling.

OK,

I finally got around to looking at this again. The drivers disk I have says it is November 2005. The repair is asking for December 2005.

What things do I need to uninstall? I am guessing LabVIEW 8.0.

I hate to uninstall everything and then re-install. I have another machine which I am doing this on and it fails to help that machine with it's issue. (This is already in another thread.)
