How to start a Real-Time Execution Trace Toolkit session?

How to start a Real-Time  Execution Trace Toolkit session?  I looked at some examples but they already had a log file.  How do you establish the session/log file?  When I selected “Real-Time Execution Trace toolkit ..” from the tools menu, it said “waiting for session”.  What to do next?  I have TraceTool Start.vi and TraceTool Stop Trace And Send.vi  in my Real-Time VI.

What you described is all you have to do. Start Trace and Stop Trace and Send on the RT, run toolkit on host PC.

A few things to check:
Does your real-time code ever reach the 'TraceTool Stop Trace and Send.vi'?
Did you specify the correct IP address to send the trace to?
Probably a software firewall is blocking traffic between RT and host computer?

Hi folks,

Where do I find this 'toolkit' that you run on the host PC?

kimdino,

If you have the toolkit installed, all you have to do from Labview is go to Tools > Real-Time > Execution Trace Toolkit

You can check if you have it installed, you can open the NI License Manager and expand the Toolkits category under your Labview system.
