How to make cluster control's border transparent

I can do it using the old style cluster control but not the new ones with 3D
look. I put 3 string controls in a cluster but I don't want to show the
cluster, so I thought I will just change the color but can't.

Use the paint tool and right-click on the border, place the cursor over the T in the upper right corner and press F

The border should now turn transparent...

On the border of the cluster control, using the paint brush tool, right click. The color selector will pop up. If you correctly selected the border, you will see a 2 panelled color box in the lower right hand corner, and "Space bar toggles color selection" in the center bottom. By default, mine was gray and "T", indicating foreground and background colors (I think). Hit the space bar to change to the left hand box, then select "T" for transparent - or any other color you may desire.

That's what I was trying to do but for some reason, I can't click on the
border itself. Even when I put the coloring tool on the border and
right-click, the color is changed for the inside of the cluster.

Now if I use the old style cluster control, I can change its border color.

Can someone send me a cluster control with a different border color. I just
asked my coworker to do same and he couldn't even change the border color.
Maybe the new 3D style controls don't allow that?

I guess you can't change the border color of a 3D cluster control. Probably due to the shading effect in the 3D control. You can make it transparent though. See the attached.

Remember, you have the old 2D style controls still available.

Correct, "...the foreground color in the left half of this box and the background color in the right half." - https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/labview/page/lvhowto/coloring_objects_and_backg.html

I know exactly what you mean, Mr. Altenbach! It's sad.

But only God is Holy! Nothing else, no one else.
